Some lady says it looks like a small SUV. What the hell Chevy? Man those “focus group” commercials are fucking garbage.

They should put a Trax next to it and ask her the question again, lol.

Having hired focus groups in the past, I can tell you the participants are the finest people they can find who are willing to waste an entire day for free lunch and $50.00

Now I think that they are real people, just really blind “real people”.

Saw one on the road today. It looked crazy low and a little on the small side for a compact. Easily the most upscale compact to ever wear a bowtie for sure.

Eh, while I don’t agree that it looks like a small SUV, for some reason when I saw a white Premier trim sedan from behind not too long ago, I would’ve sworn I was looking at a shrunken down BMW X4, until I spotted the bowtie.

First one I saw. I didn’t know they were out yet! This one was over 30 grand.

Thats GTI money.

How is that even helpful? I can’t imagine those people have relevant input for most products.

I’m pretty sure they’re packed with luxury and safety features, though.

The new Cruze looks like a fairly solid product and GM is trying to tap into the disenfranchised VW TDI owners who will be in the market for a new ride. If I was looking for something that size I would consider it but its too small to really replace my JSW.

The Chevy “real people - not actors” themed spots are the worst*
*tied with the Toyota “exciting” Camry “exhilarating” Prius etc ads.

I love that they call those featured in the commercial “real people.” As if that’s a reason that I should listen to what they have to say.
Qualifying these people as “real people” in this Chevy commercial is as helpful and relevant as qualifying Lebron James as “someone who has feet” in a Nike commercial. It doesn’t mean a goddamn thing.

Looks even more like last-year’s Elantra as a hatch.

It’s helpful because when you are marketing anything, be it a car or dishsoap, consumers who make researched, informed decisions aren’t swayed by advertisements. They want consumers who will see an ad and look at that ad, go look at the Chevy, and be swayed by high pressure sales. The exact same person who’ll spend a day in a room answering personal questions in front of a group of strangers for $50 and a free lunch.

It does look like an SUV, considering that “SUV” nowadays means “lifted hatchback”

Oh yeah, fully loaded. I just would opt for the higher performing car, but of course there is the dependability of the Cruze.

Came to say similar. I moderate focus groups on occasion. I would not trust their advice.
That being said, if you want to know what people will say to their friends about your product, you have to ask people who only have knowledge about your product from their friends. You need to hear from the ignorant, they’re your #1 buyer.
It sucks, but that’s marketing.
